BLUE AFRICA

An interesting project by Claudio Cojaniz, an excellent pianist, for at least twenty years an influential protagonist of Italian jazz, and Franco Feruglio, a refined bass player, often “loaned” by jazz  to contemporary music, where he honed his already superb technique with the bow. The two musicians face a fascinating journey through the different musical traditions of Africa, revisited with the original creativity of an improviser of our time. Their Africa is not a stereotyped postcard: the music of the duo – who also looks with respect to Abdullah Ibrahim and Randy Weston – travels with an original flair between and  hypnotic melodies, the memory of astral blues and ritual dances.
